Approaching
Being visual captivation is the best way to attract attention, using heavy contrast and dynamic forms I intend to attract shoppers. The two forms that make up the structure of the kiosk will be at a large scale and contrast each other create a tension within and around the environment. This will not be negative tension but rather an exciting one, people crave stimulation without loosing too much sense of comfort. The void in between the structures will natural draw people in as they will be separated from each other designated into men's and women's shoes but resembles the other closely. The forms at this stage in my design the forms will be able to be arranged differently each day however this is likely to change to a stationary form. It is hard to have these details fleshed out at this point in my process because I'm still exploring form.
People like things that are different, if the form is new and exciting people will want to explore it so as long as the structure is dynamic and interesting the cutemer's will come.
Exploring
Once in the space the goal is to sell so the costumers are not overwhelmed by the environment and can focus on the product. This is not just an attraction this is a retail space and its purpuos a spce is to complement and promote its produced for sale. The displays complement the product and the structure and will be layed out in a way to keep a contenuing flow some stations around the perimeter and means of egress in the middle leading to the purchase point because the spce will be so small to lessen the seance of crowding it will be more open and airy with specific stations set up for specific task like sizing and purchus.
The space should promote the product
Purchasing
These will be a small stations for payment and warping located near the exit with will be smaller tan the entrance as a way of pulling pople to the entrance then further into the space towards the smaller more snug purchasing station there will likely only be one to two employees and you will work with them throughout the whole process of fiting selecting and purchasing the shoes.
This should be the final and most important stage this part should not loose any of the apeail as the previous stages of the shopping experience.
The employee
Because we have not designed the space yet it is hard to say what the employee will have to go through in order to open, operate, and close the store. Speaking vaigly they will have to perhaps unlock the space depending on if it is stationary and open or able to be arranged and closed. Set out the product on the displays and open the register. Throughout the day they will be able to walk around and talk to costumers with no extremely designated space for them but rather the option to talk and interact with others. At the end of the day they will have to secure and store the products and lock the place up.
Looking at this kiosk more in depth now we see logistical problems and are asked to not only seek logistical solutions for them but to also incorporate them seamlessly into our design. We must have a
-strong entry point
-reasonably open means of egress
-controlled outer shell (captivating but not overwhelming)
-display for showcase of product
-ample storage for product (seen or unseen)
-seat, bench, or generic surface to sit and try on product
-way to purchase
-way to secure merchandise
